Despite the recent convictions of two of the original “three men in a room” in Albany, the Governor and two new replacements didn’t think anything about once again going behind closed doors to hammer out the 2016 fiscal plan (budget) for the State of New York. On March 31, just two weeks ahead of the sentencing of Sheldon Silver and four weeks before Dean Skelos is reassigned to federal accomodations somewhere, the new three men in a room emerged from behind closed doors with their vision of where the rusty ship of state will be steered this year. The 40-page decision released Wednesday by the state Commission on Judicial Conduct portrays Alan Simon as the archetypal “Boss from Hell.” The number of fellow workers who he charged with contempt, and, screaming, demanded their arrest and removal, included clerks, police officers, the police chief, another judge, and others. In fact, the routine, replete with bulging eyes and Anglo-Saxon epithets, almost reached the comic level of the Queen of Hearts’ “Off with their heads!” LoHud reporter Steve Lieberman has an overview of what got Simon yanked from the bench.
