“Spring Valley Mayor Demeza Delhomme is defending his position not at the ballot box, but in the courtroom.
Delhomme was in state Supreme Court in White Plains Friday for the third day of hearings that could determine whether he is removed as the mayor of the county’s largest village.
The hearings are the result of a lawsuit filed by three residents more than two years ago in the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division in Brooklyn to oust the mayor over a host of malfeasance allegations.
The claims include religious discrimination; appointing and firing employees illegally and outside of procedure; pressuring a trustee for votes; and paying for private trips with village funds.”
