“Some in Rockland County have long chafed at how much water must continuously be released from Lake DeForest, the county’s largest reservoir, and sent down the Hackensack to ensure a supply for Bergen County.
The Rockland Water Coalition, for instance, has said the passing flow down the Hackensack “remains unwarranted and inequitable,” and that it puts Rockland customers “at greater risk during future severe drought solely in order to increase” the water levels in the Bergen reservoirs. [Read more…]
