Below are 2 critical projects that will be enacted by the town of Ramapo’s elected Board if we do not express our concerns about them.
On August 15th a Public Hearing will be conducted on Pascack Ridge. This proposal is to build approximately 290 housing units on the wooded property between Rose Ave in Spring valley, North Pascack Road, and Ewing Ave in Hillcrest. If you live or travel in this area, loss of the scenic forest, increased traffic, noise and congestion will become a way of life.
if you think these units will be available for local residents to buy or rent, think again! They are being built for people that want to move into this area. This project will totally change the character of the surrounding communities of Hillcrest, Mirror Lake, Spring Valley, and for the residents on the Clarkstown Border.
What can you do about this?
- Show up at the Ramapo Public Meeting on August 15th, 7:00pm, 237 Route 59, Suffern NY, and express your opinion;
- Support the effort financially

On August 19th a Public Hearing for Northeast Strategic Plan will be conducted.
This is the result of the Charrette meetings the Town held to ‘let us know’ they plan to down-zone much of the property from Haverstraw to New Square to accommodate the need for more housing and businesses in this corridor.
This project and more to come will bring NYC congestion to Rockland. We have no choice but to oppose our own government to resist their effort of imposing undesirable changes to our Town and County. If we do not strenuously get involved to ensure these projects are the best they can be, these changes will occur in a way most of us will not like.

Below is an email from ROSA. It contains a lot of good information about these projects. Please read it and familiarize yourself with some of the details about these projects.
Important August Hearings with Town Wide Implications
Important public hearings are planned for August 15th and August 19th. The hearings relate to planned changes to the Town Comprehensive plan designed to support the introduction of high-density multi-family developments into low and medium density single-family residential areas.
Don’t be fooled by the stated location focus of these hearings. The notices make it sound like the changes are area-specific, but the changes to the comprehensive plan can have a town-wide impact. Proposed changes to allow multi-family zoning in the single-family residential neighborhoods of Hillcrest and Northeast Ramapo can and will be used to justify multi-family zoning in other low-density, single-family residential areas throughout Ramapo. Increased density affects quality-of-life issues for everyone: traffic, environment, sewer, emergency services, and water resources.
It’s time we get our heads out of the sand — tell your neighbors — tell your friends — everyone in Ramapo needs to know what is on the table.
