Goldman ordered to repay Ramapo $30.6K saved over several years on illegal religious tax exemption for Zeissner Lane house where his family operated two day care centers in Spring Valley
“Jacob Goldman must pay Ramapo $30,623 he saved in an illegal tax exemption scheme involving a Spring Valley house that hosted a synagogue and two day-care centers, a Rockland County judge ruled.
Judge David Zuckerman sentenced Goldman on Tuesday on his December guilty plea to three misdemeanor counts of second-degree offering a false instrument for filing.
Goldman had faced paying $30,623 and the possibility of up to three years probation. Zuckerman sentenced Goldman to a conditional discharge without probation.
Goldman had been charged along with Spring Valley Building Inspector Walter Booker, but Zuckerman earlier threw out the felony counts against Booker on the grounds that Booker’s actions did not meet the threshold for grand larceny charges.
The Rockland District Attorney’s Office is appealing the judge’s December ruling.”
