“Ramapo’s property tax bills are going out nearly two weeks late because of a software glitch with the vendor that prepares the statements for printing and mailing, the town announced Tuesday.
Bills will be mailed out Wednesday (Jan 18), according to Nathan Oberman, the town’s receiver of taxes.
The delay affects about half the town’s property taxpayers. Property owners who pay their taxes through their mortgages were not affected, Oberman said.
The statement followed days of uncertainty for town residents about when their bills would arrive. The bills were supposed to be sent out Jan. 5 and payment is due by Jan. 31.
Oberman said the tax receiver’s office will have extended hours through Jan. 31 and a drop box will be available at Town Hall, 237 Route 59 in Airmont, for payments 24 hours a day, he said.”
