AP: Trump thwarted Ramapoughs; tribe still angry

MAHWAH, N.J. – A Native American tribe from New Jersey and Rockland County that was thwarted from becoming federally recognized decades ago by presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is still seething.

Vincent Mann, a sub-chief of the Ramapough tribe, told The Record newspaper that many are still angry with Trump because of a campaign he waged to block federal recognition of the group in 1993. [Read more…]

Ex-Ramapo cop plans $75M lawsuit, citing discrimination

The Journal News reports that former police officer Yolanda Tyson is planning to a file civil rights lawsuit against the town for denying her injury disability like white male and female officers who were hurt on the job.

“Yolanda Tyson, an African-American officer dismissed June 27 by the town, is seeking $75 million in compensation, according to a notice of claim filed against the town.

She was dismissed on June 27, though the town says she had not worked for more than a year. [Read more…]
