Ramapo’s building crisis

The following is from Robert Rhodes, Chairman of Preserve Ramapo.

The Hillcrest chapter of CUPON (Citizens United to Protect Our Neighborhoods) met last Tuesday evening. Thanks to Micheal Miller’s presentation it was a most educational and shocking evening.

Micheal presented a long list of building projects in Ramapo. He estimated that when approved, a total of about 3,000 new apartment units will be built. With an average of eight family members per unit, we can anticipate a total increase in our population of about 24,000 residents. In other words, the proposed projects will increase our town population by almost 20%! [Read more…]

Investigate East Ramapo’s school board shuffle: Two letters

The following letters from Oscar Cohen and Kim Foskew reflect the outrage over the Board’s attempt to limit the term of Sabrina Charles-Pierre and to appoint an unknown to the Board.

Administrative oversight needs examination

On Tuesday night, the East Ramapo’s school board announced the appointment of Joseph Chajmovicz, an unknown to the public school community, to an open seat.

Mr. Chajmovicz, who it’s believed has no history of running for the board, was chosen over Jean Fields, retired Ramapo High School principal and co-chair of the Spring Valley NAACP Education Committee. [Read more…]
